First I would like to say that I am not a professional. The things I say and claims I make are based upon either personal experience, or extensive research. CBD is still a fairly new product. It’s very controversial because of its link to THC. Legally it’s in a very grey zone in many places around the world. It’s still undergoing testing to decide if it can be used as a legitimate form of medicine. Lately I have been looking into how CBD oil can impact blood pressure. As someone that has had slightly high blood pressure even as a child, I thought my findings could help someone out. first and foremost I have to suggest that you research the legality of CBD products in your state or country. In the Unites States CBD is legal on the federal level, but many states have laws against this life saving compound.
CBD can also interfere with other drugs. You may want to talk to your doctor or do research before taking CBD products if you are on prescription drugs. Again, please do all the research that you can, I am not telling you what products or substances to use.
This is my first post in a very long time, so if it’s your first time here, feel free to go back and read some of the older content. I may write posts that are similiar to older posts if I feel the research is outdated, or if i just have new things to say from my own experience.
My Experience with CBD and Blood Pressure
As you may or may not know, I started taking CBD oil around late 2016. I started taking it to help with acid reflux and esophageal motility issues. It did help tremendously with my symptoms and pain. I was able to sleep without incredible amounts of pain, and that was amazing. My issues stemmed deeper, so it was not a silver bullet, but it was still a life saver. It has amazing antioxidant and anti-inflammatory capabilities.
I did notice an interesting change though. My blood pressure, which always ran high, was falling within normal or very close to normal ranges on a regular bases. So, i began to research about the other potential uses of CBD. I found that it is not only effective for blood pressure. but it can also raise HDL cholesterol while lowering LDL cholesterol. LDL is what you want less of.
The Research
There have been several studies done in the last decade to find out how Cannabis products impact the heart and cardiovascular system. It appears that CBD is a possible supplement to help prevent strokes, and can aid in the recovery for those who have suffered a stroke. According to a 2010 study posted in Pharmaceuticals, CBD is especially effective against ischemic strokes. This is because of its ability to lower blood pressure, and lower LDL cholesterol. LDL, or bad cholesterol, can cause blockages that lead to strokes, according to a 2012 study.
I will post a few of the studies at the bottom for anyone that wnts to check that out.
Possible Uses for CBD
Again, this is not me telling anyone what to do or giving medical advice. This is just my experience and opinion.
Anyone suffering from high blood pressure, high cholesterol, high triglycerides, or any other cardiovascular issues should look into taking CBD oil. These products can possibly be life changing if you are looking for an alternative way to treat symptoms. Bringing healing and balance to these areas can also bring health to other areas of the body. This can include weight loss, balancing hormones, and higher sleep quality. There are many other possible uses for CBD, but i will cover them in a different post.
Ways to Take CBD
There are several ways that i have used to take CBD products. My main methods are ingesting CBD oil stored in a tincture, or vaping it. There are also gummies, and you can even smoke it. I find that with vaping, it begins to affect me right away. Another consideration is dosages. I like to use higher potency products. By higher potency I mean anything with 500mg or more in the container. 1500-3000mg is really the sweet spot, in my opinion. I like to get at least 10 mg per serving.
To wrap it up
To tie this all together, I just want to help someone out there deal with the hand life dealt them. I am not giving medical advice, but this has worked for me, and maybe it can work for you too. CBD products have a ton of potential health benefits, and they are just waiting to be tapped into. It won’t be an overnight change. It can take 2-4 weeks of consistent consumption before someone will start to feel the benefits of CBD. It is a commitment to improving your health over the long term. In a future post I will talk about things that could make CBD even more effective, but they are no replacement for consistency. Even if it’s your first time using CBD, I suggest starting out with a product that will give you 5 mg or more per serving. I will go over more of this in later articles, as well as some of the other ways I’ve treated acid reflux.
Thanks again.
Great post!
Thanks!
